Im März 2016 wird uns das schwedische Soundkollektiv I AM SUPER APE mit ihrem Debüt Album verwöhnen.
Was einen erwarten wird, liest sich in einer Erklärung von Hauptsongwriter Carlo so: I went through the 90s collecting Nirvana bootlegs and ripping tapes with Smashing Pumpkins, Pavement, Sonic Youth, Screaming Trees, Flaming Lips. On top of that, I'm one of the biggest Motorpsycho fans on this planet. I guess that's where I got the inspiration for this first record. Monki is the first song we wrote so it felt right starting with it.
Offiziell klingt das dann so: I AM SUPER APE ( linked to your fb page https://www.facebook.com/apesweden) is a noise-rock band from Malmö, Southern Sweden. The sound of the band is influenced by what happened around Seattle in the mid-80s and then evolved into grunge. Their attitude has a lot to do with that as well. The band has been working hard in the underground scene, especially in the last year, starting the indie label Kollektivet Records, signing all the bands that were living under their same roof, and opening an underground venue in town: Plan B. The band has independently released two EPs and two singles before they started working on their debut album, to be released March, 2016. Monki is the first lead single to be revealed and features Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, Queens Of The Stone Age) on vocals. Mark is also appearing in the video that precedes the release of the track, set for Nov 20th. American multi instrumentalist Damon Tutunjian (Swirlies, MEW) joined the band in 2014 on bass and synths and stands behind the production of Monki and the rest of the album. I AM SUPER APE debut album will also include a song guesting Swedish rock legend Ebbot Lundberg (The Soundrack Of Our Lives, Union Carbide Production) on vocals.
